Some years are glitzier than others and one thing for sure is there is a lot of shine, glitter and color on the runways this season as a nod to the 70’s.
Take make up for example, there is an array of multi colored shadows layered on in sections on the eye. Many designers make the eyes the focal point leaving the lips and cheeks subtle. How this interprets to that everyday fashionista is less is more. I add less glitter and more shine on a woman 40 and up, I do not apply shine or glitter to the browbone, as shine on the face can highlight wrinkles and fine lines. A sweep of gold or silver dust just above the lined eye will make our eyes sparkle and look festive. A dusting of finishing powder with a glimmer will also bring a face to life.
If your lips are your best feature I suggest you find a red that suits your skin tone such as an orange red for golden blondes and redheads, a pink red for a blonde and a blue based red for a brunette. These subtle undertones play a big role in flattering your skin.
Once you have a great red it is essential you have excellent foundation coverage, a sweep of cheek color that complements the lip, a natural earth tone shadow, a bit deeper than your skin tone a soft line inside the top and bottom of your eye and mascara, thats it! Let your lips do the talking for this look and you’ll be a hit at any holiday party!
